Our Redeemers Lutheran Church

About Our Parish

Our Redeemer’s congregational history began in 1901 when a group of Norwegian immigrants became a worshipping body. A church building was constructed in 1919, when we were part of a two or three point parish. Swedish Bethania Lutheran joined our parish in 1941 and our name was then changed to Our Redeemer’s Lutheran. We celebrated our 100th Anniversary in 2001. In 2010, Our Redeemer’s left the ELCA and joined Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). Our Redeemer’s is a member of the Augustana District of the LCMC.

Our Redeemer’s uses a traditional worship style. We worship every Sunday at 10:00 am with Communion services on the second Sunday of each month.

Our Redeemer’s practices evangelism through outreach within our own and the surrounding communities. We hold special services and events (including ecumenical) and participate in others in our own and other communities in our efforts to reach out and show and spread the Gospel. Our pastors generally have participated in and engaged with area ministerial groups which has resulted in our congregation engaging and participating in area events and services which seek to provide opportunities to show and share our faith. A particular ministry focus for Our Redeemer’s in the past few years has been orphanages and schools in Haiti.

Evangelism occurs through outreach to the community and surrounding area through special programming such as musical programs and events such as church suppers, community picnics,  and ecumenical services. The church also supports local charities that uphold families in need.

Our Redeemer’s service ministries are led by the women’s group that yearly donates funds to families and individuals in need, as well as local and regional organizations that support families and individuals both physically and spiritually. The women’s group creates quilts every year; some are sent away to communities in need, while others are given to graduating high school Seniors or local victims of house fires. The men’s group hosts breakfasts several times a year, whose offerings are sent in support of  Haiti schools and orphanages. Breakfast funds have also been donated to local families in need. Our Redeemer’s participates in the Minnesota state sponsored “Adopt-A-Highway” program, where congregational members clean a two-mile stretch of road ditches twice a year.  Over the years, Our Redeemer’s members have participated in many ecumenical outreach events and services, prayer outreaches, and youth service trips.
